The JMHS School Community:
I wanted to inform all of you that I will end my tenure as Principal of The James Monroe High School, effective July 1, 2014. I have thoroughly enjoyed the five years in which I have served as the instructional leader in one of the finest high schools in the country. At The James Monroe High School we have enjoyed numerous accolades that I am hoping will last a lifetime. It truly has been an honor to become the principal of a school with such great diversity and a very supportive school community. During my administration we have reduced the drop-out rate, improved the graduation rate, and helped to produce students that will be very successful in life. I believe that having high expectations for our students, increasing the level of accountability, and celebrating excellence is the formula for building a successful school. Creating the “The” in The James Monroe High School was more than figuring out a way to distinguish Fredericksburg from the others, but also to create a sense of pride, excellence, and of course a first class education.
As I move in to my new Central Office role as a Director, I will continue to find ways to support The James Monroe High School and all of Fredericksburg City Public Schools. Hopefully many of the programs that we started during my tenure at JM can potentially be used in some facet in other schools within the city. We really do want to continue having excellence in education and I am hoping that I can be a conduit to that success.
Thank you to all of you for your support over the last five years. Until July 1, 2014, it will be business as usual so that I may end my tenure on a high note. I really am going to miss working with our students!!!
