Below Zero Wind Chills Predicted for Valentine’s Weekend

A wind and wind chill advisory is in effect for the Fredericksburg region February 14 and 15, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Saturday’s high is predicted near 42, with a southwest wind 14 to 17 miles-per-hour gusting as high as 25. There is an 80 percent chance of rain and snow showers after 4 p.m. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

Valentine’s evening will start cloudy, then gradually clear. The low is predicted at about seven degrees, with wind chill values as low as -10. A northwest wind o 24 to 32 miles-per-hour could gusts as high as 48 miles-per-hour.

Sunday should be sunny, with a high near 23. The wind chill value could be as low as -15. The northwest wind of 24 to 33 miles-per-hour could gust as high as 50.

It should be mostly clear Sunday night, with a low around five, and wind chill values as low as -4. The northwest wind of 8 to 18 miles-per-hour could gusts as high as 28.
