Battlefield Campfire Programs at Sunken Road
On three summer Saturday evenings, the park will present family-friendly campfire programs at the Sunken Road, next to the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center at 1013 Lafayette Blvd. in Fredericksburg.
Programs will explore the realities of darkness on the battlefields, the role of animals in the war — mascots, mounts, and pets — and the history of the National Park Service.
July 2 – Night on the Battlefield
July 30 – Companions in Battle: Animals of War
August 20 – Solemnity, Grandeur, and Everyday People:100 Years of National Parks.
All programs begin at 8 p.m. and will last about one hour. Park at the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and flashlights.
