From Fredericksburg Police Department

Fredericksburg Police Detectives took Cortez Mills, 34, of Milford, VA into custody Sunday evening and charged him with second degree murder.

On Saturday, September 9th at 9:43 p.m., the Fredericksburg Police Communications Center received a call for gunshots fired in the 300 block of Palmer Street. Patrol officers responded and located a vehicle that had struck a pole. When the officers approached the vehicle, they located a female in the driver’s seat with a fatal gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Antoinette Anne Beverly, 26, of Milford, VA.

Police searched for Mills, who was identified as Beverly’s boyfriend, through the weekend. Mills is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
