From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:
Yesterday at 6:20 p.m., Deputy G.P. McCaulley responded to the 1000 block of Ramoth Church Road for a single-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Deputy McCaulley found the vehicle off of the roadway and with heavy front-end damage and airbag deployment. The mounted tool box in the truck bed was open and the contents, along with car parts, created a debris field in the grass that stretched approximately 75 yards.
It appeared the driver, Austin Sims, 27, of Fredericksburg, exited the roadway and into a ditch where the vehicle is believed to have gone airborne, landing in the grass. Sims was not injured in the crash.

Deputy McCaulley noticed Sims smelled of alcoholic beverages. Field sobriety tests were administered and Sims was arrested. He was charged with driving under the influence with an elevated blood alcohol content level. He was held on a $1,000 unsecured bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
