Suspected drunk driver causes accident involving Spotsy deputy

From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:
On February 12, 2023 at approximately 5:23PM a suspected drunk driver struck the rear of an on duty Sheriff’s Deputy vehicle causing a four car chain reaction accident on Salem Church Road near the intersection of Rt3. The suspect immediately left the scene of the accident in a 1994 Toyota SUV. Deputy W. Bell was in the area of the reported accident and quickly caught the suspect in the nearby VDOT commuter lot.
Alexis Metodio Carmona, twenty-nine year old male from the City of Fredericksburg was arrested for driving under the influence, open container, driving with no license, no insurance, hit and run, and illegal U-turn. Metodio Carmona was incarcerated under no bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
