From the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office:
On December 21, 2023 at 10:42PM deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian struck in the 3900 block of Plank Rd. Units arrived on scene to find a 2011 Dodge sedan was traveling West bound on Plank Rd. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Plank Rd when he was struck by the sedan
. The area that the pedestrian was struck was not in a crosswalk area and was not very well lit. In addition, the victim was wearing dark clothing.
The forty-eight-year-old victim was transported to Mary Washington Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The seventeen-year-old female driver of the sedan stayed on scene and attempted life saving measures until first responders arrived. The accident is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and is pending investigation and notification of the victims next of kin.
