Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation will explore the unique and essential Virginia people, events, and sites that helped bring liberty and democracy to a nation. Commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this exhibit will highlight the complex, diverse, and inspiring Virginia history which is, in fact, America’s story.

Give Me Liberty will provide context for the coming of the Revolution in Virginia and brings visitors into the core of the action from 1774 through 1776, highlighting how the American Revolution was a war, and more than a war.

Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation is the signature exhibition of Virginia’s 250th Commission. This exhibition is curated in partnership with the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation (JYF) and presented by VA250, Virginia’s semiquincentennial planning commission. Central Rappahannock Regional Library is honored to host this exhibition with sponsorship from Tour Stafford.

On Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, we will gather at 7:00 p.m. to remember the depth of Christ’s love
shown in service, sacrifice, and the cross. Both services will be Live-Streamed.

On Easter Sunday we will celebrate the joy of the resurrection with three opportunities for worship. A new Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m. will begin the day with Holy Communion as we greet the light of Easter morning. Festival celebrations will continue at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., each including Holy Communion and choral offerings that proclaim the good news: Christ is Risen! However you choose to come, we hope you will join us as we walk the story of faith from the cross to the empty tomb.  The 9:00 a.m. Easter service will be live-Streamed

Join us as we explore Fredericksburg’s most historic 18th-century sites, including the Mary Washington House, Hugh Mercer Apothecary, and the Rising Sun Tavern. Our speakers will share their expertise on what Fredericksburg looked like in the years before the American Revolution. This lively conversation features Associate Professor Michael Spencer from the University of Mary Washington’s Historic Preservation Department and Danae Peckler, Preservationist & Architectural Historian with the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc.

The Fred SPCA’s Compassionate Care Camp offers a hands-on opportunity for children to learn about animals and become advocates for their well-being in the community. Campers will discover more about dogs and cats, explore animal-related career fields, learn how to provide daily care for pets, and enjoy a behind the scenes look at the work we do at the Fredericksburg SPCA. With engaging discussions and interactive activities covering a wide range of animal welfare topics, this camp is the perfect summer experience for any young animal enthusiast.

As Virginia commemorates 250 years since the American Revolution, Fredericksburg stands as a city deeply rooted in the fight for independence and the legacy it left behind.

Home to prominent patriots such as George Washington and James Monroe, Fredericksburg played a critical role in shaping revolutionary ideals and leaders. The city contributed not only through its people, but also through its strategic location on the Rappahannock River and its support industries; including arms manufactories that helped supply the Continental Army.

This exhibit explores Fredericksburg’s active role in the American Revolution and the many ways the city has remembered that legacy over time. The 200th anniversary in 1976 was a major moment of reflection and celebration, marked by patriotic events, educational programs, and renewed public interest in the city’s Revolutionary past. Since then, commemorations have continued to evolve, shaping how new generations understand the Revolution’s meaning.

Through historic artifacts, personal stories, and community memory, discover how Fredericksburg helped forge a nation; and how, from battlefield to bicentennial to today, it continues to reflect on its Revolutionary story.

Get a look at what life is like on campus and off. You’ll find out about our academics, athletics, student life, and more. Throughout the day, you’ll have an opportunity to see classrooms, the fitness center, dining facilities, and a residence hall.

Join us for a walk through the Virginia Bluebells and other spring ephemerals on Saturday April 4, 11, and 18 at 10am with Virginia Master Naturalist John Bryan. Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica) are native wildflowers that are ephemeral. They emerge in early spring and after blooming, disappear without a trace until the following spring. Bluebells spread through rhizomes and self seeding, and prefer moist shady habitats like forested floodplains along rivers and streams. They first emerge as purple foliage which turns to bright green as purple buds unfurl into the unmistakable blue flowers that carpet the forest for several weeks.

We will be searching for other signs of spring along the way, covering approximately 3 miles. Meet at the Historic Germanna Visitor Center. Our walk along the Rapidan River is followed by a moderate climb to a rock outcropping that provides an excellent view of the Rapidan River and surrounding forest. From there, participants will retrace their steps along the river.

The 3rd Annual Spring Dress Drive will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Success Space in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This event supports and encourages women in our community by giving them the opportunity to select a beautiful dress at no cost while enjoying a welcoming atmosphere.

The Spring Dress Drive was created with the understanding that every woman is in a different stage in her life. Some may be preparing for a life change, a job interview, prom, a wedding, a special event, or simply want something that helps them feel confident and refreshed. Dresses in a variety of sizes and styles will be available so that everyone has the chance to find something special.

The event will take place at Success Space located at 1 Towne Centre Blvd, Suite 2500, Fredericksburg, VA. We are also excited to host a number of community giveaways and collaborations that will make the day even more special for attendees. Guests will have the opportunity to win prizes and gifts through partnerships with Crunch Fitness, Bloomia Tulips, Hooky Entertainment movie theater, Raising Cane’s,  a boutique providing a signature giveaway and SO MUCH more.  Additional sponsors and supporters include Porch & Stable Realty along with gift giveaways such as Sephora, Ulta, Starbucks, and more.

This event is completely free to attend and the only items available for purchase will be through the on-site café. This year is also meaningful for us because the event is now hosted through our Virginia-based 501(c)3 nonprofit, Woman I’m Becoming, which focuses on women’s empowerment and community support initiatives.
