City Council Candidates

Jason Graham (uncontested)

Occupation: Jason works for a large management consulting firm in DC.

Bio: Jason lives in Idlewild with his wife, Stephanie, and their two young daughters.  When he’s not at work or on the train he enjoys riding his bike on the VCR Trail, reading, and spending time with his family.

Community involvement: He has supported education through the Germanna Foundation, participated in cleanup projects with Friends of the Rappahannock, and volunteered his time through his neighborhood finance committee.

Jon Gerlach

Occupation:  Attorney

Bio: John is a retired archaeologist and practicing attorney in Fredericksburg.  He and his wife, Mitzi, live on Charlotte Street. They have two adult daughters and eight grandchildren.

Community Involvement:  Jon is a member of the Fredericksburg Architectural Review Board, and volunteers for several historic-preservation organizations, including the Blue Ribbon Panel of Tourism Cares, the George Washington Foundation, and the National Park Service, and he was appointed as a Kentucky Colonel by the governor of Kentucky in recognition of his work with young people

Dr. Andrew Reese

Occupation: Emergency Medicine Physician

BioDr. Reese is a Navy Veteran and local Fredericksburg Area physician since 1994.  He is married with two sons, an aviation enthusiast, and avid dog lover.  

Community Involvement: Andy volunteers as the Operational Medical Director of Fredericksburg Fire and Rescue.  He has been a been a volunteer youth coach for over a decade, volunteer coach for the University of Mary Washington Track and Field Program, an avid supporter of Music in the City, and supporter of MICAH Ministries and Empower House. He is a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church where he serves as drummer in the church band.

Tim Duffy (incumbent)

Occupation: Principal, James Monroe High School

Bio: Tim Duffy came to Fredericksburg in 1981 to attend Mary Washington College, where he met his wife, Karen Duffy. Together, they raised their two children, Caitlin and Ian in the City. Tim and his family have lived in the College Heights neighborhood since 1995.

Community Involvement: Tim has volunteered in various capacities throughout the region. He served as chair and member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, volunteered with the Sunshine Foundation, Tree Fredericksburg, Oral History Project, and Habitat for Humanity. He and his family are members of the Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg, where he has taught Sunday school and served as a reader and usher.

Rene Rodriguez

Occupation: Program & financial management

Bio: Rene and his husband, Jarrett, have lived in Fredericksburg since 2009.

Community Involvement: Rene is a member or supporter of many community organizations, including:  the Fredericksburg Area Museum, Fredericksburg Food Coop, St. George’s Adult Christian Education, Downtown Green, Fredericksburg Planning Commission,  Fredericksburg Electoral Board, Fredericksburg VFW, Fredericksburg Canal Quarter Makers District, Fredericksburg Complete Count Census Committee member

Charlie “Chuck” Frye Jr (incumbent)

Occupation:  Delivery driver, UPS

Bio: Chuck and his wife, Kisha, reside in the Mayfield community with their three daughters.   He is lifelong Fredericksburg resident, and a 1996 graduate of James Monroe High School.

Community Involvement:  Chuck was a key organizer of the city’s gun give-back program, and is dedicated to historic preservation.  He is also a member of the International  Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Amber Peebles

Occupation: President, Athena Construction Group

Bio: Amber is a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps.

Community Involvement: Citizen Advisory Panel, Fredericksburg Police Dept.; Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), Executive Advisory Board; 2013 SBA Small Business Champion of the Year for the Commonwealth of Virginia; Recipient of the Smart CEO award

Matt Rowe (uncontested)

Occupation: GIS Administration

Bio: A native Virginian, he is graduate of Hampden-Sydney College. He earned a post-baccalaureate certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University.

 

 

Kathleen V. Pomeroy (uncontested)

Occupation: Membership Coordinator, Friends of the Rappahannock

Bio: Katie came to Fredericksburg in 1992 to attend Mary Washington College.  She and  and her husband, Marcus, live in Fredericksburg with their three kids.

 

 

 

Jennifer Boyd (incumbent)

Occupation:  Digital Modeling/Analysis, NSWC

BioJennifer has lived in Fredericksburg for the past 23 years. She has three children: Her 15 year old daughter, Katelyn, a junior at James Monroe High School; Her 19 year old son, Kyle, a Sophomore at James Madison University; and her 22 year old son, Carter a recent graduate of  Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH with a B.A. in Earth Science.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science from Mary Washington College and a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Applied Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Jesus Dominguez

Occupation: Cybersecurity

BioJesus is a first generation American. Born in Florida just a few months after his mother and 4 older siblings emigrated from Cuba. He is a father of 4 and retired Marine of 20 years. He and his wife, Elizabeth, a city elementary school teacher,  will have 2 high school teens attending James Monroe HS starting this Fall.

Malvina Kay (uncontested)

Occupation: VP, CFO at Independent Sector

Bio: Malvina graduated from Virginia State University with a  BS in Business Administration, and is a licensed CPA.
